Is Friday Night Magic competitive? ›

Friday Night Magic is the cornerstone of "The Gathering" portion of Magic: The Gathering. It's a place for all players, regardless of experience or skill level to come together and play the game in a competitive environment.

Rounds last 50 minutes. Matches are best 2 games out of 3.

Friday Night Magic (or FNM) is a format of Magic: The Gathering tournaments, held on Friday nights in gaming stores and associations all across the world. They are designed to be a beginner-friendly introduction to organized play.

What Is Pioneer? Pioneer is an eternal format in which every card released in a premiere set from the 2012 set Return To Ravnica and onward is legal. As premiere sets are those that were legal in Standard at their launch, sets such as Jumpstart and Modern Horizons are not legal to play in Pioneer.
