Maledictus Somnia Chapter Teaser: Reverie Ignited | Fandom (2024)

Sorry this took longer than expected. I was suffering another bout of writer's block and procrastination during this. But I got through it, and now I can present this to you! I hope you enjoy!

This teaser is inspired and based off the song "Ignite" by K-391 & Alan Walker (featuring Julie Bergan and Seungri), and is intended to be read with it playing in the background.

==========

Three amulets are laid out on a dimly lit wooden desk. The chains and frame are covered in gold, and in each of the amulets are a ruby, sapphire, and emerald, which appear to be glowing softly. From the darkness, a hand emerges and takes all of the amulets. The face of the hand’s owner is not well lit enough to see his eyes, though a smile can be barely made out. He crushes the amulets in his hands, and a bright multicolored light can be seen through the gaps in his fingers. When he reopens it, the amulets are gone. Not a single trace of them can be seen in his hands or in the surrounding area. The dreams have begun.

Meanwhile, in Teyvat right before the Traveler goes to sleep for the night in Fontaine, he suddenly finds a ruby amulet on his neck. One also appeared on Paimon, though she paid it no mind since she was already drowsy from all the adventuring you had done that day. Feeling the same way, you decide to go back to sleep without giving it any second thought.

The camera then switches to first person mode, following the Traveler who will be referred to in second person until the camera switches away from them as the music begins. A translucent red amulet briefly glitches into view. When they wake up, it is not in Fontaine. No, it is some kind of hotel. They leave the room and look over the balcony that their room is positioned over. In the central lobby, numerous people are gathered together in banter and entertainment, many of which are people who were just in Teyvat yesterday. You retreat back into your room trying to process what was happening, but the door does not lead to your room. Instead, it leads to a gate outside a colosseum-like arena, where two people are fighting amidst the cheers of a thrilled crowd. Before the door opens, a green tint is briefly applied along with a glitching effect before both fade. The duelists suddenly land a powerful clash with their weapons and elemental powers, causing a flash that temporarily causes you to only see white. The elemental burst causes a translucent blue amulet to briefly glitch into view before disappearing. When you open your eyes, however, you are still seeing white. You rub your eyes. It’s all still white. You try to look around, though the near uniform whiteness surrounding you slightly disorients you. After only a short moment, Paimon shows up in your sight, unconscious and lying on what seems to be nothing. The camera then switches to third person and slowly zooms away from the Traveler, revealing the entire space’s expanse.

The Traveler then stands up and the setting changes fades the void to the colosseum while the camera turns from their face to their back. From the angle the camera is at, an entire half of the audience can be seen. The Traveler is standing on one side of the arena, and standing on the other is Evelyn. An announcer can be heard behind the music, declaring that the duel will now begin. You unsheath your sword, ready for a difficult duel. And just like that, the fighting begins along with the chorus. Various arena battles can be observed during the chorus: Traveler against Evelyn, Torin against Amari, Sylvain vs Stellaris (whose fight seems more intense than usual), Arielle and Estris, and Steven and Helia.

The second verse begins at the hotel, the Traveler walks through its halls alongside Steven, Torin, Helia, and Teja. Along the way, they see many people chatting away with each other so innocently. It seems they do not know something is wrong. At the end of the hallway, they see a singular door with a crimson glow seeping through. It then switches to the white space where they are walking through a crowd of greatly dazed people. Many of them are confused while talking to their friend, as if they were talking to a stranger. As the pre-chorus begins, the shot switches to behind the door at the hotel hall. The Traveler opens the door, and the group slowly walks into the passageway behind it, armed with nothing but their elemental powers. The walls of the passage behind the door are made with an unknown type of silver-like metal, and it is very dim. The crimson glow is dim, but it is bright further down the passage. They continue through the hallway and the connected labyrinth that leads to the deepest parts of the hotel. In the white space, the Traveler finds Arielle while wandering, who suddenly does not remember who they are. She attempts to draw her bow at them in self-defense, but you are able to calm her down, telling her that you are a friend of hers. You then invite her on your journey out of the space, and she hesitantly accepts. You take her by the hand to pull her up and continue on your way, right before the beginning of the second chorus. During the chorus, it cuts between two different scenes: the Traveler’s entourage finding a giant crimson heart, the source of the magic that has put everyone into this trance; and the Traveler taking people with them to run towards a single direction, in desperate need of an exit.

As the bridge begins, the shot cuts to the hotel room where the magic’s heart is being contained. Everyone is giving the heart everything they have in the hopes of destroying it, so the magic flowing through the hotel’s halls can be cleared. In the colosseum, the contestants are trying to dig out of the dormitories beneath the colosseum through one of the walls as the final match between the Traveler and Stellaris endures, their plan so far successful.. Perhaps escape awaits them through one of the tunnels. In the white space, the Traveler is still trying to get everyone to assist you in your escape, so you can take everyone back home and end these nightmares once and for all. In the hotel room, the heart is finally destroyed, so now you are ready to leave. However, as you turn around, you are able to see Iradia blocking the way forward, the sight of each other stunning everyone in the room. In the colosseum, the contestants are finally able to resurface outside. Amari goes first to poke her head outside the opening, but goes back in after finding several armed guards ready to kill anyone attempting to escape. In the white space, the Traveler, along with some other outlanders, succeeds in making everyone remember who they are, and everyone has one more conversation with each other with their memories intact once again. As the final chorus approaches, the Traveler looks at the camera, which is now positioned higher than him and facing him. Right before the chorus begins, the camera begins experiencing visual glitches.

The shots of the final chorus consist of several scenes that are cut to each other in sequence, which are each split into a few short segments: the Traveler vs Stellaris in the colosseum; the outlanders against everyone else in the hotel, including the hotel’s owner who appears to be wielding a new kind of red power; and Sylvain and Arielle hugging each other for the first time since Sylvain’s death in the white space. At the second half of the chorus, the shot sequence changes to the following: the contestants in the colosseum fighting back the guards while they run towards the edge of the dream; the Traveler running towards the hotel door in order to slash it open while everyone besides the outlanders try to reach out to stop them; and the Traveler and everyone else attempting to reach towards a massive black fracture in the white space’s border through a cloud of intangible glass shards. Strings of an unknown type of black energy flows out from the fracture. The camera then cuts to in front of the Traveler’s face in the final clip as he grabs the camera.

It then cuts to black. The teaser ends here.

Again, I'm sorry this took longer than expected, and if it may be shorter than what you were hoping for.

This is the teaser for the newly expanded Maledictus Somnia Chapter, which now consists of three amulet incidents instead of one. The Maledictus Deversorium Chapter was remade into this thing. I hope you like it!

The corresponding Acts will be the following:

Act I: A Disconcerting Tranquility: The act corresponding to the ruby amulet. This act takes place in a hotel, where everyone seems much cheerier than usual (except outlanders) and do not wish to leave.

Act II: With Dust and Cinders: The act corresponding to the emerald amulet. This act takes place in a colosseum, where everyone is forced to fight in a tournament for the entertainment of an unidentified crowd, with their lives at stake.

Act III: Mind Slipping, Heart Fading: The act corresponding to the sapphire amulet. This act takes place in a blank white space, where everyone has lost all memories of their previous lives (except outlanders).

If you're wondering when this will be started, canonically this takes place after the events of the Exitiale Sidus Chapter, and as such will be officially started after its completion (which will not be expected for a long time). Until then, I hope you like the other things I put out!

Let the darkness lead us into the light

Let our dreams get lost, feel the temperature rise

Baby tell me one more beautiful lie

One touch and I ignite

I feel the heat as we collide

Like a fever that feels so right

Baby tell me one more beautiful lie

One touch

And I IGNITE!
