KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Risks of severe weather have now exited Kansas City and the surrounding areas following a destructive night.

Follow our Live Blog throughout the day and into tonight as we bring you the latest warnings, watches, and any storm damage across the metro.

11:05 p.m.

Damage reports are beginning to roll in from the National Weather Service:

  • Prairie Village, Johnson County, Kan. - Downed powerlines and power outages near Windsor St.
  • Rich Hill, Bates County, Mo. - State Highway B is closed due to water over the roadway near the Bates Co. drainage bridge.
  • Rich Hill, Bates County, Mo. - Downed power lines on Highway A near Rich Hill.
  • Bucyrus, Miami County, Kan. - Reports of downed power lines and power outages.
  • Brookfield, Linn County, Mo. - State Highway 11 is closed due to flooding.
  • Belton, Cass County, Mo. - Downed power lines and power outages were reported near Westover Rd.
  • Urich, Henry County, Mo. - Multiple 5-6 inch diameter ree limbs have been downed east of Creighton.
10:57 p.m.

All severe weather has exited Kansas City and the surrounding areas. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to persist throughout the night.

9:49 p.m.

A new Tornado Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for central Pettis and east-central Johnson counties in west-central Missouri. A line of thunderstorms capable of producing a tornado was seen near Whiteman Air Force Base headed northeast at 35 mph. Radar has indicated rotation. Locations impacted include Sedalia, Knob Noster, la Monte, Smithton, Green Ridge, Whiteman Air Force Base, Hughesville and the Sedalia Memorial Airport. The previous Tornado Warning has expired.

9:11 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Henry, Johnson, and Pettis Counties on the Missouri side. At 9:10 p.m. severe thunderstorms capable of producing both tornadoes and extensive straight-line wind damage were located near Calhoun, or near Clinton, moving northeast at 40 mph.

In addition, Creighton Fire Protection District reports a few trees limbs that are 5-6 inches in diameter have fallen. The tree limb damage was located on the Henry County side around 1501 road.

9:03 p.m.

The NWS canceled the tornado watch for the Kansas City metro.

8:35 p.m.

The National Weather Service has added western Henry and southwestern Johnson County in west-central Missouri to the previous Tornado Warning. Cass and Bates counties have been dropped from the warning. Locations impacted include Clinton, Urich, Deepwater, Montrose, Creighton, Chilhowee, Blairstown, Hartwell, La Due, Quick City and Truman Lake. The warning is expected to expire around 9:15 p.m.

8:15 p.m.

A new Tornado Warning has been issued for southeastern Cass and Bates counties in west-central Missouri by the National Weather Service. Severe thunderstorms capable of producing both tornadoes and straight-line wind damage were seen along a line from Butler to Rich Hill, Mo., headed northeast at 40 mph. The warning is expected to expire around 9 p.m. Radar has indicated rotation. Locations impacted include Butler, Adrian, Rich Hill, Passaic and Ballard. Those in the area should take cover now.

7:29 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for central Linn County in east-central Kansas which is expected to be in effect until 8 p.m. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was seen near Mound City headed northeast at 30 mph. Radar has indicated tornadic activity. Locations impacted include La Cygne, Mound City and Linn Valley. Those in the area should take cover now.

7:06 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for eastern Miami and southeastern Johnson, counties in Kansas, as well as Cass, southwestern Lafayette and southern Jackson counties in Missouri. Severe thunderstorms were seen along a line extending from Grandview to Peculiar to Freeman headed northeast at 40 mph. Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and penny-sized hail. Damage should be expected to roofs, siding and trees. Locations impacted include:

6:45 p.m.

The National Weather Service has allowed all tornado warnings in the area to expire.

6:20 p.m.

A new tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service for southwestern Linn Co. in north-central Missouri. The warning is expected to be in place until around 6:45 p.m. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was seen near Meadville headed northeast at 30 mph. A tornado and quarter-size hail are possible. The radar has indicated rotation with this storm. Locations impacted include Brookfield, Meadville, Laclede and Linneus. Those in the area should take shelter now.

5:36 p.m.

A new tornado warning has been issued for northern Grundy, west central Sullivan and southeastern Mercer counties by the National Weather Service. A severe storm capable of producing a tornado was seen over Spickard headed northeast at 35 mph. Radar has indicated rotation. Locations impacted include Spickard, Tindall, Harris and Mill Grove. Those in the area should take cover now.

5:30 p.m.

A tornado warning has been extended by the National Weather Service for northwestern Sullivan, east-central Mercer and southwestern Putnam counties until 6 p.m. Impacted areas now include Newtown, Lucerne, Harris and Lemons.

5:15 p.m.

A new tornado warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for northwestern Sullivan, southeastern Mercer and southwestern Putnam counties. The warning is expected to stay in place until around 5:30 p.m. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was seen about 8 miles northeast of Spickard headed northeast at 35 mph. A tornado and quarter-size hail are possible with radar-indicated rotation. Locations impacted include Newtown and Lucerne. Those in the area should take shelter now. The other tornado warning issued to the northwest did expire.

4:58 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a new tornado watch that is expected to expire around midnight. Impacted areas include Leavenworth, Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas, Marshall, Moberly, Harrisonville, Clinton, Nevada, Joplin, Pittsburg and Coffeyville. A few tornadoes are likely with scattered hail up to two inches in size. Widespread wind gusts of up to 70 mph are also expected. Counties included are Barton, Bates, Benton, Carroll, Cass, Cedar, Chariton, Clay, Cooper, Dade, Henry, Hickory, Howard, Jackson, Jasper, Johnson, LaFayette, Macon, Pettis, Platte, Randolph, Ray, Saline, St. Clair and Vernon.

4:33 p.m.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center posted on X that it expects to issue a new tornado watch for the rest of the Kansas City Metro and southern counties in Missouri and Kansas.

4:28 p.m.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper has reported seeing the tornado on the ground near Gentry crossing into Harrison County crossing Highway 169. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for southeastern Worth, northeastern Gentry, western Mercer and Northern Harrison counties in northwestern and north-central Missouri. A confirmed tornado was seen on the ground about 11 miles east of Grant City headed east at 50 mph. A damaging tornado and ping ping ball-size hail are expected. Locations impacted include Ridgeway, Eagleville, Cainsville, Blythedale, Mount Moriah, Allendale, Denver, Martinsville and Hatfield. This includes I-35 between mile markers 96 and 113.

4:18 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a new tornado warning for Gentry and Harrison counties in Northwestern Missouri. A confirmed tornado was seen near Albany headed east at 30 mph. A damaging tornado and quarter-sized hail are expected. Gentry and Martinsville are expected to be impacted. A tornado is on the ground in the area. Those nearby should take shelter now.

4:08 p.m.

The National Weather Service has canceled a tornado warning in Northwestern Missouri, however, a severe thunderstorm warning has taken its place. The thunderstorm warning is expected to expire around 4:45 p.m. for southern Worth and northern Gentry counties. The storm was seen about 8 miles northwest of Albany headed east around 30 mph. Hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail. Hail damage to vehicles is expected as wind damage to roofs, siding and trees is likely. Impacted locations include Albany, Gentry, Worth and Denver. A tornado watch remain in effect until 9 p.m.

3:49 p.m.

A tornado warning has been canceled by the National Weather Service for northeastern Brown County, Kansas.

3:33 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect after a tornado warning was canceled by the National Weather Service for Holt, Nodaway and Andrew counties in Northwestern Missouri. A severe thunderstorm was seen near Fillmore, about 9 miles southeast of Mound City, moving northeast at 45 mph. Wind gusts of around 60 mph are expected with quarter-sized hail. Hail damage to vehicles is expected while wind damage to roofs, siding and trees is also likely. A tornado watch also remains in effect until 9 p.m. Impacted locations include Maitland Barnard and Graham. This includes I-29 near mile marker 78.

3:29 p.m.

A tornado warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for northeastern Brown County, Kan. The warning is expected to expire around 4 p.m. A severe thunderstorm was seen in the area that is capable of producing a tornado over Hiawatha. The storm is headed northeast at 35 mph with radar-indicated rotation. The dangerous storm is expected to be near the Robinson Reserve around 3:35 p.m. Other locations impacted include the Iowa Reservation of Kansas and Nebraska and the Sac and Fox Reservation. Those in these areas should take cover now.

3:11 p.m.

A tornado warning has been extended by the National Weather Service for Worth, Gentry and Nodaway counties in Northwestern Missouri until 4 p.m. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was seen about 8 miles south of Maryville headed northeast at 35 mph. Sirens have been activated. A tornado and golf ball-sized hail are expected. Locations impacted include Maryville, Stanberry, Ravenwood, Barnard, Conception Junction, Parnel, Guilford, Clyde, Arkoe and Conception.

3:07 p.m.

A tornado warning has been issued for central Nemaha and southeastern Marshall counties in Kansas which is expected to expire around 3:30 p.m. Radar in the area has indicated tornadic rotation. A severe thunderstorm in the area is capable of producing a tornado near Vermillion moving east around 50 mph. Flying debris is expected to be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes are expected to be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles is expected while damage to trees is likely. Impacted locations include Seneca, Centralia, Wetmore, Corning, Goff, Vermillion, Oneida and Lillis. Those in these areas should take cover now.

2:45 p.m.

A tornado warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for southeastern Nemaha County, Kan. A confirmed tornado was seen north of Goff headed northeast at 35 mph. Hazards expected include a damaging tornado and ping-pong-sized hail. Emergency management has confirmed a tornado in the area. Flying debris is expected to be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes are expected to be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will happen. Tree damage is also likely. The tornado is expected to be near Woodlawn around 2:50 p.m.

2:37 p.m.

A tornado warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for northeastern Holt County, southwestern Nodaway County and northwestern Andrew County. The warning is expected to expire by 3:15 p.m. Hazards include tornadic activity and golf ball-sized hail. A radar has already indicated rotation. Flying debris is expected to be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes could be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles is likely. Tree damage could also happen.
